Donuts and Devotions

I saw a news report some time ago about a donut shop in New York where customers are encouraged to pay it forward and buy a donut for the poor and homeless.  If someone comes in and is short of money, they can still get a donut provided "the fund" has been established by other paying customers.  It is an interesting spin on paying it forward or random acts of kindness.  There aren't too many businesses that would encourage homeless people to frequent their store.

I had a thought to start a donut store and offer devotions to everybody who comes in- calling it Donuts and Devotions.  A coffee and donut dive that would operate with the Pay It Forward model.  Just an outreach disguised as a business.  Could the honor system still work in America?  If we lift one person up we all rise.
